Teachers' Day: World Languages

One-day (9am-5:30pm) workshop for secondary and higher ed instructors teaching global/world languages (mainly French and Spanish). Divided into four workshop series. All teachers will attend workshops 1 and 2 and will be divided by languages for workshops 3 and 4. Workshops 3 and 4 will focus on Spain, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal and Quebec.

Workshops:

1) New methodological approaches and challenges in teaching languages with AI with examples on Bolivian culture.

2) General background on cultural products, practices, perspectives, and comparisons, along with strategies for creating cultural contexts using authentic resources, images, and artifacts.

3) Using cultural practices and cultural comparisons with real-life conversations.

4) Generating information and resources for specific cultural products, practices, and perspectives.

All workshops are built around the three New York State Communication Standards—Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational — for the teaching of world languages. Native Spanish and French-speaking instructors will facilitate the workshops.
